2005

A controlling stake in OAO Sibneft (75.68%) was acquired by the Gazprom group. On May 13, the company was renamed into Gazprom Neft Open Joint Stock Company. The strategic objectives of gaining the position of a global company with a regionally diversified package of assets along the entire value chain have come to the fore in the development of the company.

1998-2004

A good resource base, efficient capacities for the processing of raw materials determined the high pace of the company's development. Sibneft's management has done significant work to modernize production, introduce modern technologies and optimize business processes. Thanks to the implementation of an active policy to increase assets, the geography of production (Tomsk, Omsk regions, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug) and the marketing network in the regions of Russia (Sverdlovsk Region, Tyumen Region, Krasnoyarsk Territory, St. Petersburg, Moscow) were significantly expanded. Among the largest acquisitions of the company during this period was the purchase of a 49.9% stake in OAO NGK Slavneft, which produces oil and gas in Western Siberia and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

1996-1997

In order to develop a market economy, the government of the Russian Federation has implemented a plan for the privatization of Sibneft. In 1996, private investors purchased 49% of the share capital of Sibneft at auctions. In 1997, within the framework of the government program “Shares for Credits”, the Financial Oil Company won the auction for the sale of the state share of Sibneft.

1995

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Siberian Oil Company OJSC was established. The founder of the Company was the state, having transferred to the authorized capital of the holding the state-owned stakes in the country's largest oil enterprises: OJSC Noyabrskneftegaz, OJSC Noyabrskneftegazgeofizika, OJSC Omsk Oil Refinery and OJSC Omsknefteprodukt.

Gazprom is Russia's largest producer and exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company is one of the four largest oil producers in the Russian Federation. Gazprom also owns large generating assets in Russia.
